A new study came out that said a small population of stem cells in pancreatic cancer that drive tumor growth, which means that stem cells are the cure for pancreatic cancer.
Researches say that finding stem cells in cancer will lead to the development of drugs to target and kill these stem cells now that we know how they work. We basically know that stem cells are basically the root of problem and by taking them out, we can treat them a much more effective way.
Not only have stem cells been found in pancreatic cancer, but they have been found in breast, brain, central nervous system and colon cancers. The way to beat cancer is to target these stem cells, which would be a much different and a more effective approach from the current one of shrinking tumors and killing as many cells as possible. Experts also believe that the current system is flawed because cancer stem cells may resist standard therapies.
Stem cells not only have the possibility of helping those not only with these types of cancer, but also with Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries and muscle damage as well as a number of other impairments and conditions. I do not see why so many people are saying to limits on what these wonderful things can do.
